Program history

Following the establishment of the Lofoten International Chamber Music Festival in 2004 and the Lofoten Piano Festival in 2014, the festivals gradually have a rich program history to refer to.

So far, the festivals’ program history consists of over 400 events. All of the six municipalities in Lofoten have been included, and all churches have been in use. In addition, Lofoten Concert Hall and Meieriet Art Center have gradually become permanent arenas. Several smaller events have been held in various galleries, restaurants and cafes. Last – but not least – the festival has held several outdoor events.

Since 2004, more than 300 artists from Norway and abroad have participated. In addition, several orchestras such as the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra and the Oslo Camerata have participated. Together they have performed over 1100 musical works.

The program is the festival’s core product. Every year, new programs are developed to attract audiences from all over the world. The program history is the best reference to what the festival has achieved and is an important documentation of what the festival stands for.
