Quartet Saphir consists of Amanda Noor Vatn (violin / viola), Philippe Jayer (violin / viola), Torje Råbu (violin / viola) and Iris Kalliovirta (cello). Everyone attends 8th grade at the elementary school Music at Majorstuen, and is part of Young Talents at the Barratt Due Music Institute.
Cellist Kari Ravnan is the teacher of the quartet. The quartet is part of the Young Quartet series, which is part of the Oslo Quartet Series. In doing so, they both attend master classes with international quartets, and play concerts as part of the program.
In the fall of 2019, they participated in the chamber music festivals Absolute Haydn and Brahms in 123. Quartet Saphir has played at events at the Royal Palace, the Central, the Norwegian Opera, the Nobel Peace Center, Oslo City Hall and the National Theater.
Quartet Saphir won first prize in their chamber music class in the Youth Music Championship in 2019. They received the gold button in Norwegian Talents on TV2 in the fall of 2019.
