Ryoma is Japanese and is now storming to the world’s concert scenes. In Norway he is highlighted as the winner of the Grieg competition in Bergen in 2018.

Takagi began playing the piano when he was two years old and began to take lessons with Elena Ashkenazi, the sister of the far more famous Vladimir Askenazy. From the age of seven he was taught at the Tokyo Conservatory. When he was twelve years old and attending Katsuragi secondary school, he won a piano competition for youth in Ukraine. He attended Makuhari Secondary School before joining the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien. There he studied under Michael Krist.
