Paul Lewis is today one of England’s most sought after pianists, and enjoys particular recognition for his interpretations of classics such as Haydn, Beethoven and Schubert.
His complete recording of Beethoven’s sonatas, piano concertos and the Devil’s Variations is considered by many to be one of the best. He is in the process of a complete recording of Haydn’s sonatas, Beethoven’s Trivia and works by Bach.
He performs regularly with the world’s largest orchestras such as in Berlin, Chicago, Paris, New York and Leipzig. He has received numerous awards and accolades, including Commander of the Order of the British Empire during the celebration of Queen Elisabeth’s 90th birthday in 2016.
He is more than happy to participate in chamber music festivals, and is the founder and artistic director of Midsummer Music together with his Norwegian cellist wife Bjørg Værnes (Vertavo).
The couple has recently moved to Norway.
Paul Lewis last participated with us during the piano festival in 2014.
