After graduating from the Music Colleges in Trossingen and Karlsruhe, the oboist Stefan Schilli got the position as a solo oboist at the symphony orchestra in Bayerishen Rundfunk – 20 years old! In 1996 he won both the “Prague Spring” and the ARD competition, and received the “Busch Brothers” award the same year.
Stefan is today considered one of the world’s foremost oboists, and performs all over the world. He made his debut with the Berlin Philharmonic in the oboe concerto by Richard Strauss. He has also collaborated with eminent conductors such as Lorin Maazel, Mariss Jansons, Sir Colin Davis, Christopher Hogwood and Franz Welser-Möst.
Schilli has been a professor at the Mozarteum in Salzburg since 2004 and teaches regularly at several other European educational institutions.
He is also a dedicated performer of historical oboes and is one of the founders of the baroque ensemble “L`accademia giocosa” which in 2015 received the award “Diapason d´or” for a record with music by Telemann.
