Concert | Meieriet Kultursenter

A concert with heavyweights in classical music that starts with one of Brahms’ last works, at many meters is his swan song, four serious songs. It is a brave and honest title from a composer whose best friend Clara Schumann was dying after a stroke, at the same time as he himself was in the autumn of age. The next pieces by Schumann balance this serious with lighter and more entertaining tones. After a break, we get a highlight both among Beethoven’s works and among all the world piano concerts, his fourth concerto in G major. The music is performed in the composer’s own, newly discovered version for string quintet.
