During this year’s edition of The Grieg Piano Competition, a winner has been chosen. It also means that the first artist for the Lofoten Piano Festival 2024 is official.
The 17. edition of The Grieg Piano Competition took place in Bergen in the period 27 August to 3. September. Among a total of 277 applicants, 30 participants were selected to play their way through several rounds in Bergen. Saturday 3. September there were only 3 finalists who each played a concert with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra.
After a terrific performance of Grieg’s A minor concerto, the Japanese pianist Fuko Ishii became this year’s winner. In collaboration with The Grieg Piano Competition, the first prize is participation in the next piano festival in Lofoten. It also means that the first artist for Lofoten Piano Festival 2024 is ready.
